HCrainey absent for Rovers visit

Blackpool will be without left-back Stephen Crainey when they welcome Blackburn to Bloomfield Road.

Crainey has been virtually ever-present for the Seasiders this term but he picked up his fifth caution of the season in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, meaning he will serve a one-game ban.

Blackpool boss Michael Appleton is likely to play Bob Harris, who spent time on loan with Rotherham earlier in the season, in his place.

Appleton has Chris Basham back for a one-game suspension and he will contend for a spot in midfield.

The Seasiders chief also revealed Gary Taylor-Fletcher will be included in the squad after returning to training following a hamstring problem.

Ian Evatt will not be included, although his knee injury is not thought to be as bad as first feared.

However, the defender picked up a bout of illness with Appleton hoping he will be well enough to return to training next week.

Forward Matt Phillips (toe) is a long-term injury absentee.

Blackburn boss Henning Berg could be without three of his midfielders for the trip.

The trio of Mauro Formica, David Dunn and Danny Murphy are all battling injury problems as Rovers look to kickstart their season under their Norwegian manager.

A hamstring injury meant Murphy sat out the 4-1 defeat to Cardiff last Friday, while Dunn and Formica have knocks which Berg concedes he will have to monitor.

"Gato (Formica) has played all our games and he has not been used to playing so many games," said Berg.

"Those games have taken their toll on him and he's got a knock, so we'll see on Friday or Saturday how he is.

"Danny and David are getting closer but we'll have to wait and see if they are available or not."

Blackburn are still without strike duo Nuno Gomes (hamstring) and Leon Best (knee).

Rovers are targeting a return to form having taken just one point from their last four outings, with Berg securing only one win in his first eight games in charge.
