Martin Paterson in line to make Blackpool debut against Barnsley

Martin Paterson is in line for his Blackpool debut against Barnsley at Bloomfield Road.

The 28-year-old, who has been hampered by injury issues throughout his career, is waiting on international clearance but believes he is fit enough to contribute straight away for Neil McDonald's side after completing a move earlier this week.

Midfielder Jarrett Rivers is the only player unavailable to McDonald after the midfielder tweaked his hamstring.

The Seasiders, second bottom of the Sky Bet League One table, have not won on home soil since January 31.

Barnsley's recent loan signing Michael Smith is hoping to make his first start for the club and fellow striker Sam Winnall is pushing for a recall.

Smith was unavailable for the Reds' home win against his parent club Swindon last week and his return to contention gives head coach Lee Johnson a selection dilemma.

Winnall stepped off the bench last week to replace winger Ryan Williams, who may have to settle for a place among the substitutes after lasting just 29 minutes having returned from a long-term groin problem.

Goalkeeper Nick Townsend is expected to resume after making his first league appearance for the club last week, while teenage defender James Bree is in line for a recall.
