Wigan clinch promotion after victory at Blackpool

Four second-half goals at Blackpool clinched Wigan's promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship and left the hosts on the brink of successive relegations a 4-0 defeat.

Blackpool missed a couple of great chance inside half an hour as Jack Redshaw was denied by Jussi Jaaskelainen before Mark Cullen dragged an effort wide from eight yards.

The game opened up after half-time and Wigan almost scored on the counter attack after 58 minutes, but Yanic Wildschut's shot was straight at Colin Doyle.

But they did have the lead after an hour when Chris McCann's strike from 18 yards flew past Doyle and into the roof of the net.

Ten minutes later, victory and promotion were sealed when Wildschut curled into the far corner from 15 yards to make it 2-0.

And the substitute grabbed his second two minutes later, firing in from 12 yards as Blackpool collapsed to the brink of relegation.

Will Grigg rounded off the win by latching onto a Max Power cross from the right and nodded home from close range five minutes from time.
