Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston insists their success in hanging on to in-demand midfielder Charlie Adam gives their Barclays Premier League survival hopes a huge boost.
The 25-year-old, who handed in a transfer request when he learned of the first of at least two bids from Liverpool, was also the subject of a very late offer from Tottenham.
But Oyston - who manager Ian Holloway claimed was refusing to return the calls of Liverpool's director of football strategy Damien Comolli - is delighted to have held on to their prize asset, telling the Blackpool Gazette: "I want to give the town, the club, its supporters and the manager the best possible chance of maintaining Premier League status."
He added: "It would be horrific if we all sat at the end of the season saying 'What if?'
"Now, no matter what happens, there won't be any 'what ifs?'
"We will give staying in this league - and all the rewards that brings - our best shot. We go forward together and we won't have any regrets."
Adam insists that he remains fully committed to the challenge of surviving their first season in the top-flight for four decades
"I want to help Blackpool finish as high as possible," he said in a statement to the paper.
