Trapattoni staying on as Republic of Ireland boss for Euro 2012 campaign

New deal: Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has agreed to remain at the helm for another two years. The 70-year-old Italian, whose existing deal was due to expire next summer, has agreed a two-year contract extension with the Football Association of Ireland, which will take him through to 2012. Trapattoni said: "I am delighted to continue my job with the FAI. This squad has huge potential. "Our results demonstrate what self belief and structure can achieve and I am really looking forward to continuing the work we have begun." Steven Reid has been recalled to the Republic of Ireland squad for nextmonth's crucial World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Montenegro. The 28-year-old Blackburn midfielder, who has been working his wayback to full fitness after knee injury which ended his season inSeptember last year, has been included in a provisional 27-man partyfor the two games at Croke Park. There are places too for fit-again Hull defender Paul McShane andReading counterpart Darren O'Dea, but Sunderland midfielder Andy Reidmisses out once again despite being in fine form for his club.
