Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes fears that Matt Derbyshire will be sidelined for up to three weeks after the in-form striker picked up a thigh strain in Saturday's victory against Sheffield United.
The injury comes at a bad time for the 20-year-old as he has also been forced to pull out of Tuesday's Under-21 international against Spain after being selected for the England team.
Derbyshire had to be replaced by Jason Roberts after only 15 minutes of Saturday's game and Hughes confirmed on Rovers' official website: "The lad looks to have picked up a thigh strain. I expect he'll be out of action for two to three weeks."
Derbyshire has been in a rich vein of form recently, netting five goals in his last eight appearances, including two in the FA Cup victory at Luton Town.
