Steve Kean described as 'brilliant' by Blackburn owners

Under fire Blackburn boss Steve Kean has been given a vote of confidence by the club's co-owner Balaji Rao described him as a 'brilliant manager'. Speaking on the day that Blackburn beat Pune 3-0 in a friendly in India on Friday in which Jason Roberts scored twice and Ruben Rochina got one, Rao said those calling for Kean to be sacked were in the minority and that Venky's had no concern about the club's current position in the relegation zone. Important win: Junior Hoilett in action for Blackburn in the 3-0 win over Pune The Scottish boss has one just six of his 28 Premier League games since taking charge in December last year and there have been marches and protests in the ground calling for him to be sacked. But Rao said: 'The team is in the relegation zone right now, but it is going to come up I am sure of that. 'We do know that a few people have been generating thousands of mails demanding the ousting of current manager Steve Kean, who is a brilliant manager. Rao confirmed that Kean would be given money to spend in the January transfer window and but was reluctant to divulge exactly how much.He added: 'As far as investment goes, in the January transfer window, we will take a call at how we would be improving the squad. By then we will get a clear idea of where we stand. 'On the whole the goal of playing in Europe over the next four to five years is a realistic one.' Just a few: Blackburn co-owner Balaji Rao claims it is a small number of fans who are calling for Kean's head Former Rovers midfielder Jason Wilcox, was not sure if Rao's comments were wise given the current situation, he said: 'I can understand the owners want to show their support of the manager but there does have to be a reality check. 'The comment that concerns me is that they are positive about the way the team is performing and the way things are going. The situation is dire at the moment. 'We do need to stick together as a club but we also need to accept the reality of things and that is everything is not positive at the moment.' Backing their man: Balaji Rao (left) has come out and voiced his support for Kean But ex-striker Kevin Gallacher supported Rao's comments, he said: 'The owner is showing his support for the manager and that is what he should do. Maybe he should not have said it was just a few calling for the manager's head though.'  Kean says he is not under pressure as he lands in India for talks with Venky'sKean feels the heat in India as Venky's promise to deliver wins 'by hook or by crook'Let down!
