Manchester United defender Danny Simpson has agreed to join Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old becomes Rovers boss Paul Ince's third capture of the summer following the arrivals of Paul Robinson and Carlos Villanueva.
Simpson has made eight first-team appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side, making his debut in last season's Carling Cup defeat to Coventry City.
He played in 14 games for Sunderland during a loan spell at the Stadium of Light in the second half of the 2006-07 season and had a brief period with Ipswich Town last term, featuring in eight matches for Jim Magilton's side.
Simpson also had a spell on loan in Belgium with Royal Antwerp.
