Alan Shearer is interested in becoming Mark Hughes' successor at Blackburn Rovers, according to reports.
The Times believes Shearer, who has also been linked with the Newcastle United manager's job in the past, has told his former club that he is keen to be interviewed for the Ewood Park post.
Hughes agreed to become Manchester City's new boss last week and a host of names have already been linked with the Rovers job.
MK Dons manager Paul Ince, Stuart Pearce, the England Under-21 head coach, Sam Allardyce, the former Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United boss, and Steve McClaren, the former England head coach, are also believed to be interested in the role.
Several foreign managers, including Roberto Mancini, Michael Laudrup, Dick Advocaat, Avram Grant and Henk ten Cate are also reported to be in the running to take on the job.
Shearer scored 112 goals in 138 Premier League matches for Rovers during a four-season spell with the club between 1992 and 1996.
The 37-year-old also played for Southampton and Newcastle United during a 19-year professional career before announcing his retirement just over two years ago.
