Samba calls for Rovers focus

Defender Christopher Samba has warned his Blackburn Rovers colleagues that only they can be relied upon to save their Premier League status.

Rovers boosted their survival hopes after moving up to 14th place in the table following Saturday's 2-1 victory over Tottenham.

Sam Allardyce's side have now been tipped to stay up, but Samba has warned his team-mates that survival is still far from assured.

"In the Premier League anything can happen - look at Fulham beating Manchester United the other week. I don't think anyone would have expected that," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"We cannot count on other teams losing or dropping points. We have to continue doing things ourselves and making sure we get ourselves out of trouble, rather than worry about other teams helping us out.

"If we stay out of the bottom three we will have done what we wanted. If we don't and get dragged back down there then it is our fault no one else's.

"It is a crazy league. Everyone can beat everyone so we have to concentrate on being the best in our game and winning that game."
