Samba backed by Allardyce
23 Mar 2009 - 12:30:41
Sam Allardyce believes Christopher Samba a can play a key part in helping Blackburn Rovers avoid the drop to the Championship.
The 1-1 draw with West Ham United has left Rovers only two points above the drop-zone and extended their dreadful record at Ewood Park to just three wins in 15 games this term.
However, Samba's recent form has impressed Allardyce, who said: "He's one of our major assets, not only as a defender, but in getting us opportunities to score goals.
"This player will strike fear throughout the Premier League with his aerial power and I'm going to use it to its absolute maximum because it's something that we'll be renowned for.
"The opposition will worry every time they play us because of the aerial power of this guy. He'll not only be known as a great defender but someone who makes opportunities for us to score goals."
