Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has told Roque Santa Cruz he wants him to keep him at the club.
The Paraguay international hinted last week about a possible Ewood Park exit in next month's transfer window.
However, having spoken with Santa Cruz, Allardyce said: "We've had the discussion and I just said the timing (of the interview) I thought was very poor.
"He shouldn't have done that interview. It was certainly not set up by this football club, which was disappointing.
"Obviously I felt it was slightly sinister, the timing of it, but we've resolved that and I've told him I don't want him to leave and that's probably the end of it.
"You can never be 100 per cent about anything in this game but I haven't come here to sell my best players."
