Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce was pleased with his players' fitness levels during their recent games in Croatia.

One Rovers side drew 0-0 against Portuguese side Nacional in a 45-minute pre-season match before a more junior team lost 1-0 to Hajduk Split.

Allardyce said after the two matches: "I thought the first 11 were very good against Nacional, apart from good crosses going in without ever creating any chances. That's why we're looking for another frontman to add more power up there.

"But I thought the second 11, with El Hadji Diouf, Jason Roberts and Morten Gamst Pedersen, who has only just come back, and David Dunn, looked a little jaded and we were outplayed by Hajduk Split in midfield.

"But like all games at this time of the year, it's about the work-out.

"We've enjoyed our time away. I think overall. looking at Cambridge, Roma and Nacional, perhaps not against Hajduk, our fitness is looking okay."
