Sam hopes for Pedersen deal

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce remains confident that Norwegian winger Morten Gamst Pedersen will agree a new contract to remain at Ewood Park beyond the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has been with Rovers since the summer of 2004, but recently he has been linked with a possible change of scenery in the summer.

However, an upbeat Allardyce said: "There's a contract we want Morten to sign, so I hope his and the chairman's representatives can secure a deal tomorrow. That would not be soon enough for me.

"Morten has suggested he wants to stay and, if that's the case, get it done and dusted and don't leave the door ajar for somebody to step in and make it impossible for us to sign him from there on.

"I don't have any doubts he will sign, it's just that the two parties need to come together and thrash it out."

Pedersen has scored 38 goals in 234 appearances for Rovers in all competitions.
