Sam allays Robinson fears
02 Mar 2009 - 09:22:52
Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson was forced to have an X-ray after clattering in to Hull City defender Michael Turner during Sunday's game between the two teams at the KC Stadium.
The former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper had to be substituted at half-time as Rovers beat the Tigers 2-1 to ease their relegation concerns but boss Sam Allardyce hopes the injury is not too serious.
He said after the victory: "He's gone for a precautionary X-ray. We don't think the damage is too severe, but he's gone just in case. I think it was his shoulder or his chest that was hurt."
Of his side's win, the former Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United manager said: "It's a huge result for us. We'd been put under a huge amount of pressure before this game started with the Middlesbrough result on Saturday.
"We were building up in the week to think it's coming around to the time where they are must-win games now even though it's away in the Premier League.
"We've had to get one from somewhere, and then Middlesbrough beat Liverpool and it made it an even bigger must-win game.
"But we've done the job very professionally, dug it out, showed a lot of quality with the two goals we've scored.
"We capitalised on a mistake for the first one but it's a great finish, and then it's a great move for the second one and we put ourselves in a great position."
