Michel Salgado is believed to be on the verge of joining Blackburn Rovers after the veteran defender confirmed his intent to move to England.
Salgado, 33, was released by Real Madrid following 10 years at the Bernabeu at the end of last season.
The former Spain international has been linked with several clubs in major leagues across Europe throughout the summer.
But after considering all his options, Salgado is now poised to join Rovers on a one-year contract.
"This was the most interesting proposition in terms of sport," he revealed.
"I have always wanted to play in England."
