Salgado enjoying Rovers life

Veteran Spanish defender Michel Salgado will end his illustrious playing career in Europe with Blackburn Rovers.

The 34-year-old right-back enjoyed plenty of success during a decade with Real Madrid, before heading to Ewood Park at the start of the current campaign.

He has since bedded in well in the English games and is content to see out the remainder of his contract, which ends in the summer of 2011.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It's a long career with competitive teams, ten years with Real Madrid and now I am really enjoying it with Blackburn.

"I think it's going to be my last in Europe, but I still think I have some exciting time ahead here. I wouldn't keep playing if I didn't believe that.

"I am feeling really well. I am playing regularly, it's great and I think I am improving each week.

"I have settled into the Premier League and this is very important for me.

"It's a great end of my career and I am enjoying the Premier League and the culture of football in England, and I enjoy Blackburn."
