Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that they have failed with an attempt to sign Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi.
The 26-year-old Oman international is currently starting the final year of his Trotters contract, having been forced to play second fiddle to Jussi Jaaskelainen during his time at the Reebok Stadium.
However, Bolton boss Gary Megson still views Al Habsi as a valuable member of his squad and does not want to part with the keeper.
A statement from Rovers read: "Rovers will not be pursuing an interest in Bolton goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi.
"Rovers officials, who confirm approaching Wanderers about the Oman international, were told that he was not available and have now moved on."
Al Habsi moved to Bolton in January 2006 from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo, but has made just 16 appearances for the Trotters to date.
