Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has cast doubt on whether Ahsan Ali Syed's proposed takeover of the club will be successful.
Last month it appeared that the Indian businessman was on the verge of concluding a deal to buy the Premier League club in a £300million deal.
However, rumours have since surfaced about unpaid debts and Allardyce was notably quiet on transfer deadline day.
The Rovers boss admitted: "If it's happening, it's going to happen in the next week or two.
"But whether it does happen or not seems now doubtful, for whatever reason I don't know, I'm not privy to that information yet.
"The timing didn't help. People still felt we had a lot more money than we had coming up to the end of the window. It's been a distraction, I think."
