Rovers takeover talk cools

American-based businessman Daniel Williams has confirmed that he has held talks with Blackburn Rovers about a possible takeover of the club.
Williams' consortium hopes to launch a move for the club after holding talks with Rovers chiefs earlier this year, but he insists the whole process is still in the very early stages.
He is keen to buy out the Walker Trustees, that currently owns 99.8 per cent of the club, but told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "We're at the very, very early stages of any kind of process.
"We've had a very good dialogue with John Williams and his vice-chairman, David Brown, but a lot of what has been written is exceptionally premature.
"The whole thing about a deal being imminent and a price being agreed just isn't the case.
"I certainly haven't seen anything in the way of due diligence, and we haven't formally made an approach.
"It's very much at the conversational stage at the moment."
John Williams had said last week: "We're willing sellers and in discussions with third parties and those discussions have naturally progressed over a period of time.
"We've made some progress with a third party but it is very difficult because of all of the formalities involved. At present there is nothing else of particular significance to report."
