Teenage Macclesfield Town striker Nick Blackman has joined Blackburn Rovers following a successful trial at the Premier League club.
The 19-year-old was invited to train with the Ewood Park club during Paul Ince's brief spell as manager earlier this season.
Successor Sam Allardyce continued the club's interest in Blackman and the youngster has now signed a contract which runs until the summer of 2011.
The promising striker has joined Rovers for a undisclosed fee despite making just one start for the League Two club.
"Nick has a wonderful opportunity and given he wasn't guaranteed a first-team place at the Moss Rose this season, it would have been wrong to stand in his way," said Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander.
"It will be interesting to see how he develops at Ewood Park and we all wish him well."
