Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that they have rejected a major offer for striker Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City.
The Citizens had been reported to have lodged a bid of around £12million for the 26-year-old Paraguay international, with former Rovers boss Mark Hughes now in charge at Eastlands.
A statement on the Ewood Park club's official website: "A bid came in last night and it was immediately rejected.
"Various Manchester City officials have been advised on a number of occasions that the player would not be for sale.
"We are very disappointed, therefore, that they have continued their interest."
Santa Cruz scored 23 times in all competitions in his first season in England, having joined Rovers from German giants Bayern Munich a year ago.
