Rovers snub new Bentley bid
18 Jul 2008 - 12:08:19
Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have made their interest official after Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams revealed his club has received a second bid for David Bentley.
Aston Villa have already seen one bid for the wantaway midfielder rejected by the Ewood Park club last month.
But fellow suitors Spurs are also now reported to have tested the water for the 23-year-old former Arsenal youngster.
Bentley revealed his desire to leave Rovers last month following the departure of manager Mark Hughes to Manchester City.
"We've had bids from two clubs for David Bentley, one when Mark Hughes was manager and the other very recently. They've both been rejected," Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
Meanwhile, Williams also revealed that he has rejected a £2million approach for full-back Stephen Warnock.
Newcastle United are believed to be keen on the former Liverpool defender.
"We've had a bid of £2million," confirmed Williams. "It was rejected and the club concerned has been told he is not for sale."
