Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has made a double swoop to snap up the highly-rated NAC Breda striker Maceo Rigters and BK Frem Copenhagen goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen.
It had been thought that Rigters was heading for either Celtic or Norwich City but it is Rovers that have won the race to sign the Netherlands Under-21 star on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Rigters won the Golden Boot at the recent European Championship after netting four times in the tournament.
He came through Ajax's youth academy before going on to play for SC Heerenveen and FC Dordrecht.
Meanwhile, Rovers have also snapped up the Faroe Island Under-21 international Nielsen for a small fee on a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.
Nielsen told the club's official website: "I'm very pleased, it's a massive opportunity for me just to develop in the best league in the world.
"It's a great opportunity, I'm really looking forward to it.
"I'm glad that the manager and staff believe in me, I won't let them down."
