Rovers pair impress Hughes
05 Jan 2007 - 07:44:05
Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has hailed the upturn in form of attacking duo Morten Gamst Pedersen and Benni McCarthy in recent weeks.
Norway winger Pedersen had struggled to reproduce the form that saw him net 11 goals last season, but Hughes has seen positive signs in recent outings.
He said: "He is playing well at the moment. In the last month or so he has been showing the form he was in last season.
"I've been delighted with him, he's looking stronger. We've got a real weapon with Morten."
Meanwhile, McCarthy has earned high praise from Hughes after scoring 12 goals in 27 appearances since his summer arrival from FC Porto, including goals in each of his last four games.
"Benni is starting to fully come to terms with the Premiership," Hughes added. "In every game we see him he is very much involved in everything we do in an attacking sense.
"He is scoring goals and he is taking on a lot of responsibility in games as well. I'm delighted with his contribution."
