Rovers new boy Salgado aims to emulate golden oldie Hierro

Michel Salgado hopes to fulfil a Fernando Hierro role at Blackburn havingconsulted the former Real Madrid captain before making his move to Ewood Park. Sam Allardyce has already earmarked veteran right-back Salgado, who signed a two-year contract this week, to do the kind of job for him at Rovers that Hierro did at Bolton five seasons ago. And, having decided to follow Hierro in swapping La Liga for Lancashire, Salgado revealed he wants to emulate his former Real team-mate in more ways than one.
