Rovers May Have Found Their Man In Appleton

Blackburn have agreed compensation with fellow Championship side Blackpool and now himself and coach Ashley Westwood are in talks with Rovers over a deal.
Blackpool released the following statement: "Blackpool FC can confirm that following discussions with Blackburn Rovers and Michael Appleton, permission has been granted for the manager and Ashley Westwood to discuss personal terms with the club."
Blackburn's own statement added: "Following lengthy discussions with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston... talks will take place tomorrow (Friday)."
Appleton has only been with Blackpool since November 7th when he was plucked from Portsmouth to take over at Bloomfield Road after Ian Holloway had moved on to Crystal Palace.
Rovers also had a manager in place for a short period; Henning Berg lasted just 57 days in the hot seat after a run of woeful results.
However, since then Gary Bowyer and Terry McPhillips have taken temporary charge and won their first three games. The powers that be at Rovers seemed to like this and said the pair would be in charge until the end of January.
This now looks unlikely to happen.
Appleton has not had a great record since joining Blackpool, he has steered the team to two wins, seven draws and lost two of his 11 games at the helm.
But it's just another story in the never ending rounds of paying out compensation to managers that Rovers seem to like to do. Wonder how long this one will last?
