Blackburn Rovers are expected to hand Sam Allardyce more than £10million with which to strengthen his squad.

Paraguay international Roque Santa Cruz completed his £18million switch to Manchester City on Monday while Matt Derbyshire is on the verge of finalising a £3million move to Olympiakos.

Rovers are expected to announce a loss of £8million for the 2008-09 season but Allardyce will still be handed a massive transfer war-chest as a result of the recent sales.

He has been told he needs to cut the Ewood Park wage bill by ten per cent but remains in the market for at least two more signings - a forward and a right-back.

Portsmouth and England international striker Peter Crouch could be on the Rovers boss' radar as well as Kevin Davies who Allardyce worked with at Bolton Wanderers.
