    Rovers fightback delights Sam

    22 Mar 2010 - 09:10:43

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce was full of praise for his side after they battled back to earn a 1-1 draw at home to title hopefuls Chelsea.

El Hadji Diouf netted an equaliser 20 minutes from time at Ewood Park, after the home side gave an improved display in the second half, having been under the cosh before the interval.

Allardyce told the club's official website: "I said to the lads at half-time that we had to get better quality on the ball, but we had to keep up that pressure and if we got stuck into them we might have a chance.

"That is what happened, we showed a bit more quality in the final third and we started looking dangerous and then when the goal came it was great quality and I'm glad to say it was the turning point for us.

"Then there was some heroic defending towards the end, but it was just what you want against the big boys. We've come away with a very well-earned point.

"Obviously we have dented Chelsea's chances a little bit, but we have Arsenal and Manchester United to come and we hope we have a big effect on who wins the league by taking points off the big boys."
