Blackburn Rovers have decided against offering a contract to Ecuador international midfielder Segundo Castillo.
The 26-year-old had joined up with Rovers on their pre-season tour of Germany, but has now headed back to Red Star Belgrade, with a £6million price-tag having put off new Blackburn boss Paul Ince.
Chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "At this moment in time we won't be making an offer for Castillo.
"The player has returned to Red Star Belgrade."
Ince had earlier said of the South American schemer: "He had a 20-hour flight to get here, so it was hard to really analyse him or have an opinion on him after the first day of training.
"But we've got the chance to have a closer look at him and then we'll go from there.
"I'm sure he's good enough to play at this level, but you don't just buy players on people's hearsay."
