Rovers aim to land Joaquin

Blackburn Rovers have reportedly tabled a bid for Valencia's unsettled Spain winger Joaquin. The 27-year-old right-sided midfielder has been identified as the ideal replacement for David Bentley following the England international's £15million move to Spurs. Joaquin joined Valencia from Real Betis in 2006 in a 25million euro deal but has struggled to recapture his best form at the Mestalla and missed out on selection for Spain's Euro 2008 squad. However, Rovers boss Paul Ince is believed to have offered around £9.5million for a player who was once linked with Chelsea and Manchester United. Meanwhile, Ince is close to agreeing terms with veteran striker Robbie Fowler on a contract to resurrect his career in the Premier League. The 33-year-old former Liverpool and England striker joined Rovers from Cardiff City in a bid to win a contract earlier in the summer.
