Blackburn Rovers have agreed a fee with Aston Villa for the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Peter Enckelman.
The 26-year-old has been on loan at Ewood Park in recent times and Rovers have had a second undisclosed bid for the Finn accepted by the Midlands club.
Rovers boss Graeme Souness said: "We have struck a deal with Aston Villa and the player is having a medical."
Enckelman had impressed during his time in Lancashire, acting as back-up to Brad Friedel, but has yet to make his senior debut for the club.
He has been in England since early 1999, making just over 50 appearances for Villa after joining them from TPS Turku.
