Roque wants England future

Roque Santa Cruz insists he would only consider quitting Blackburn Rovers for another Premier League club.

The 27-year-old Paraguay striker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City when the transfer window reopens in January.

The former Bayern Munich striker is also reportedly being tracked by several Spanish and Italian sides, but Santa Cruz claims he wants to extend his 18-month spell in England should he leave Ewood Park.

Referring to his much-discussed future, he said: "I have nothing to do with the offers. They are made to the club and the directors deal with them and make a decision.

"I would like to stay in England. I like this league. It is one of the most competitive in the world."

Meanwhile, the South American believes he will be back in action following a shin injury by the time Rovers face Newcastle United on January 17.

"This weekend there are no league games, as the (FA) Cup is being played," he continued.

"I think I will miss the next weekend's game and be fit for the following one."
