Roque in dark over City move

Roque Santa Cruz has expressed his fears at being priced out of a proposed move to Manchester City from Blackburn Rovers.

The Paraguay striker has been identified as one of Mark Hughes' top targets in the January transfer window, but the Ewood Park club have thus far resisted all advances from City.

Despite City's millions, they have yet to match Blackburn's valuation of the striker, having two formal bids turned down.

Former Rovers and now City boss Hughes does not want to be held to ransom for any player and could turn to other options to bolster his squad.

Santa Cruz told Futbol a lo Grande: "It seems the club is worried that they won't be able to find a replacement if I go - that is what is giving them doubts.

"You hear all the time that the club have asked for £20million and I don't know if City are going to offer that or if they are going to increase their bid."

The player claims that he has been told that he will be allowed to leave for a fee of around £25million.
