Robinson set for brief lay-off
26 Sep 2008 - 10:47:36
Blackburn Rovers will be without Paul Robinson for two weeks with the calf injury which forced the goalkeeper out of their midweek Carling Cup tie.
The England international lasted just 13 minutes of Wednesday's 1-0 third round victory over Everton before limping off.
Robinson was sent for scans on his calf on Thursday and the results have revealed a minor strain.
He will now miss Saturday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United and is a doubt for next weekend's visit of Manchester United to Ewood Park.
Speaking after the midweek victory, Rovers boss Paul Ince suggested that Robinson was set for a brief spell on the sidelines.
He said: "Paul seems to have run over a black cat as he's had a lot of injuries recently. He's going to have a scan and fingers crossed he'll be ready for Saturday.
"Having said that, Browny (Jason Brown) came in and looked assured and steady."
