Roberts wins red card appeal

Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts has won his appeal against the red card he received against West Brom last weekend. Roberts was shown a straight red card 10 minutes after coming off the bench for an off-the-ball challenge on West Brom defender Jonas Olsson. Referee Mike Jones adjudged Roberts to have punched Olsson, with the decision mystifying Rovers boss Sam Allardyce. Roberts was facing a three-match ban but the Football Association has confirmed the dismissal has been overturned, leaving the 31-year-old free for the start of next season.
