    Porous defence concerns Sam

    12 Jan 2010 - 09:04:01

Sam Allardyce accused his Blackburn Rovers side of 'not defending properly' after they were soundly beaten 4-1 at Manchester City on Monday night.

Rovers remain 13th in the Premier League table after seeing their winless run in all competitions extended to ten games.

In-form City striker Carlos Tevez put Rovers to the sword at Eastlands by helping himself to a hat-trick.

The only crumb of comfort for the travelling fans was a second-half reply from Morten Gamst Pedersen.

"Except for the last goal, all of the goals were avoidable," fumed Allardyce.

"It was really poor from our point of view, rather than Manchester City's outstanding players using their outstanding abilities.

"We've got to look at ourselves and say that we haven't done our job defensively today to make sure we stayed in the game to try and get a result out of this one.

"When we got the goal back and had other chances we didn't quite take, but it is too late by then as the game is effectively over."
