Roque Santa Cruz has sent out a clear message to his prospective Manchester City team-mate by cutting his summer holiday short to return to training.
The striker, signed from Blackburn in an £18million deal earlier this month, has been put through his paces at City's training ground a week before the players are due to report for pre-season.
Topless Santa Cruz, who missed a large chunk of last season with a knee injury, was wearing a heart-rate monitor during his fitness session.
The Paraguay star faces a battle to snatch a starting spot at Eastlands despite his price tag. Tevez, who walked out on Manchester United this month, is expected to join, while City are also in the hunt for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.
City already have Robinho, Craig Bellamy, Jo, Valeri Bojinov, Benjani, Felipe Caciedo and Ched Evans on their books.
