Pedersen close to Rovers deal

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce remains confident that Norway international winger Morten Gamst Pedersen will agree a new contract at Ewood Park.

The 28-year-old's current deal runs out next summer, with a number of clubs across the continent being linked with approaches for the talented wideman.

However, Allardyce stated: "We all know he is out of contract this year, so we will have to see what we can do about that.

"There's no reason for us to do anything with him at this stage, not unless somebody suddenly pops up from abroad to give him a pre-contract.

"If that was the case then we would have heard about that, so we'll obviously try and continue to talk to him regarding a new contract."

Pedersen joined Blackburn in the summer of 2004 from Tromso for a fee of around £1.5million.

He has since scored 38 goals in 225 appearances in all competitions.
