Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has revealed that Dutch defender Andre Ooijer faces well over a month out of action due to a hamstring injury.
The 33-year-old suffered the problem during the 1-0 home defeat by West ham United last weekend and a scan has revealed a significant tear.
Hughes told the club's official website: "He pulled up very sharply and it was quite clear that it was a significant injury.
"It's come back and the official term is a grade 2.8 tear, so you're looking at a minimum of four or five weeks out I'd suggest.
"So we'll miss Andre because I think he's been excellent, one of our better performers this season, but he's not available, so that gives an opportunity for other players that have been itching to get out there."
Meanwhile, Rovers chairman John Williams has dismissed talk that the club might be prepared to sanction the exit of Jason Roberts in the new year, with Derby County rumoured to be showing an interest in the striker.
"I'm not aware of any interest and, in my opinion, we'd want to keep him at the club," Williams told the Evening Telegraph.
