Blackburn Rovers have been boosted by the news that Andre Ooijer has returned to training.
The 32-year-old Dutch defender has been sidelined since breaking his leg during the 3-0 win at Manchester City in January.
Rovers boss Mark Hughes told the club's official website: "Andre joined in with the group during last week, so that was very encouraging - not only for Andre but for us as well.
"He came in the warm-up, did a few functional things and it has left him very positive."
Meanwhile, Benni McCarthy still believes the club can clinch a UEFA Cup spot for the second successive campaign.
Rovers can move to within two points of Bolton Wanderers, who currently occupy the final UEFA Cup spot, if they win their game in hand against Tottenham on Thursday.
"We've got two more games to go and our UEFA Cup chase is very much alive with Portsmouth and Reading losing on Saturday," said McCarthy.
"Now we've got it all to do against Tottenham and Reading and hopefully we'll give the people of Blackburn something more to cheer about for next season by getting into the UEFA Cup.
"We had a fantastic run in it this season and we want to see ourselves next season playing in it again."
