No Silence For Thatcher
Rovers have confirmed that there will be no minutes silence at Ewood Park on Saturday for Margaret Thatcher.
Thatcher died on Monday, and the decision not to hold the silence was not taken lightly as she was the club’s honorary vice president, but many fans would not have liked this.
David Mellor said yesterday that many fans around the country simply would not respect a minute's silence.
Derby County are the visitors to Ewood on Saturday and it has been revealed that a debate on whether to hold the silence or not was discussed at the regular pre-match briefing this morning.
The decision was made just to give her a mention in the match day programme.
Would you have respected a minute's silence? As someone who suffered during the Thatcher years, I certainly would not.
