    No change from Bentley

    26 Mar 2007 - 08:03:33

Blackburn Rovers' England Under-21s forward David Bentley says he won't change his ways to try and further his international prospects.

The 22-year-old became the first Englishman to score at the new Wembley at the weekend, netting a superb free-kick in the 3-3 draw with Italy's Under-21s side.

His self-confidence has often been seen as arrogance, but Bentley says he is content with the way he goes about his business.

He said: "Maybe it's me being misunderstood.

"It's the way football is, sometimes you become robotic and I don't play like that, I don't conduct myself like that.

"I want to play with a personality. That's what the fans want to see, that's what I want to see if I watch a game. I'm not going to change for anybody.

"If people don't like it, fair enough. I'll just keep on playing the football and see what happens.

"This is what makes me stronger and what makes me perform like I did against Italy. I'd never change anything, I live the way I want and do what I want."
