New Rovers contract suits Dunn
26 Jan 2010 - 18:44:44
Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn has signed a new deal with the club while Sam Allardyce has accepted an offer from West Ham United for striker Benni McCarthy.
Thirty-year-old Dunn has penned a new two-and-a-half year deal that will keep him at Ewood Park until the end of the 2011-12 season.
He has scored 37 league goals in 204 appearances in his two spells with the club and also had an injury-ravaged three-and-a-half year spell with Birmingham City.
Dunn returned to Rovers in January 2007 after the two clubs agreed a £2.2milliion transfer fee for his services.
Meanwhile, South Africa international McCarthy has been given permission to speak to the Hammers, although Allardyce is unhappy with the 32-year-old's attitude.
He said: "The only loyalty a player has got is to himself. That's not just Benni, that's all players today.
"It's more about a selfish attitude that they have. If something comes their way that they think they must have, they try their very best to go and get it."
