Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes hopes Ryan Nelsen will return to action in the next Premiership match against
Manchester United, after the New Zealand international picked up a hamstring injury.
Nelsen missed the Ewood Park defeat to West ham United and has been ruled out of his country's friendly matches against Costa Rica and Venezuela.
Injuries have restricted the 29-year-old to only four Premiership appearances this term and he was forced to undergo surgery in September.
However, Hughes says the current problem is not connected with Nelsen's previous injury, telling the club's official website: "He's got a little bit of scar tissue which will continue to free itself.
"So when that happens he gets a bit of a reaction. The good news is that it isn't a re-occurrence of his injury over the summer.
"He wasn't available for us against West ham and he won't be travelling to New Zealand as we have to rest him so he gets a clear break and we can welcome him back after the internationals."
