Central defender Ryan Nelsen has agreed a new four-year contract with
Blackburn Rovers, ending rumours of a move to
Portsmouth this summer.
The 28-year-old New Zealand international stopper has been a revelation since moving to Ewood Park in January 2005 from DC United.
Nelsen has made just over 50 appearances for Rovers to date and helped the club finish sixth in the Premiership last season and gain a UEFA Cup spot as a result.
He had earlier said of the interest from Pompey: "It's nice to think that someone thinks you are all right, but you have to put that out of your mind.
"When you start thinking about potential moves, your head can explode."
