Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract to keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2011.
The 30-year-old South Africa international joined Rovers in the summer of 2006 from FC Porto for a bargain fee of £2.5million and has scored 35 goals in 87 appearances for Mark Hughes' side.
McCarthy has netted just 11 times this season after struggling to match his performances from last term, but he remains a key member of the Rovers squad.
Meanwhile, McCarthy's strike partner, Roque Santa Cruz is delighted to have reached the landmark of 20 goals in his first season in English football.
He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "I'm very happy with my performance this season.
"To score 20 goals in my first season is a big thing for me, because I know how hard it is to score goals here, so I'm very happy that I've been able to achieve it.
"I've always watched English football and I know it's hard to hit that mark, but I still came here wanting to get 20 goals and I'm pleased that I have done it."
