McCarthy exit talk intensifies

23 Dec 2009 - 13:57:17

Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy is being chased by a host of clubs, including three Premier League sides, according to the South Africa international's agent.

Ivan Modia has confirmed that the 32-year-old is keen to resurrect his career away from Ewood Park as next summer's World Cup finals will be held in his homeland.

McCarthy has dropped out of the first-team picture under current boss Sam Allardyce with the former FC Porto and Celta Vigo forward making just four Premier League starts so far this season.

Modia said: "We've dealt with Blackburn well over the last three years and never had any problems. It's the same now, there's no problem with Benni.

"We just want to talk to John Williams or Sam Allardyce over the next couple of weeks to find out their plans for Benni. We don't know whether they intend to sell him or not.

"Benni just wants to be playing to help his chances of playing in the World Cup. If he's going to get that chance at Blackburn, of course he's happy to stay.

"There are three Premier League clubs and clubs abroad who we know are interested in him though. Whatever happens we're sure it will be best for all parties involved."
