Injury woe strikes Rovers
22 Feb 2008 - 11:59:32
Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has revealed a spate of injuries to central defenders has led to a selection dilemma for Sunday's derby with Bolton Wanderers.
The Ewood Park club still harbour hopes of finishing among the European places this season, but Hughes will be without both first-choice centre-halves Andre Ooijer and Ryan Nelsen for the visit of the Trotters.
Both Ooijer and Nelsen continue to be troubled by hamstring problems, but their absence has been eased by the return from suspension of Christopher Samba.
"Andre is still struggling so it would be a surprise if he was involved and obviously we're still struggling with Ryan Nelsen as well," Hughes told the club's official website.
"But it's compensated somewhat because obviously Chrissy Samba is available again after suspension alongside David Dunn and Morten Gamst Pedersen.
"So we've got a few more bodies than we had going into the Arsenal game (two weeks ago) where the guys involved were probably the only ones that I had available.
"We've got a few injuries but we're hoping that some will resolve themselves in the next week or so."
