Injury relief for Santa Cruz

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince has breathed a sigh of relief that striker Roque Santa Cruz's injury in the 4-2 friendly defeat at Wolves has proved not to be too serious. The 26-year-old Paraguay international was injured in scoring midway through the first half and played no further part in the game. However, the prognosis after the game was not as serious as Ince had feared at first. He told the club's official website: "Roque is okay. There was a bit of a scare when he went down and my heart was in my mouth. "But he got a whack on his Achilles when he scored the second goal and it is going to be three or four days, according to what (chief physio) Dave Fevre has said to me. "Obviously with the boots these days, you are never sure if it is a metatarsal or what it was. But I've been told by the physios and the doctor that he is okay." Santa Cruz scored 23 goals in 41 appearances in his first season at Ewood Park and has been linked with both Arsenal and Manchester City this summer.
